Will Window Washer remove data that has already been deleted from my hard drive? Is that the slack space option? |
The slack space option functions in a different way. Your hard drive operates by using "sectors." These sectors can only contain one file at a time, however, sometimes the file does not fill an entire sector. This excess space is called "slack space."
By cleaning up slack space, you clear up some space on your computer and remove data that could have been there from a previous file.
Note: The slack space option was not included in versions 5.x of the software. If you have not done so already, please update your software to the latest version 6.5 to receive this option. |

Where do I add plug-ins? |
| To update your Window Washer 6.x plug-ins, follow these steps: |
- Launch Window Washer 6.
- Click Check Now. You must be connected to the Internet in order for this to work.
- Your plug-ins should automatically be configured.
| To update your Window Washer 5.x plug-ins, follow these steps: |
- Click Options >Update.
- Click Check for Plug-in Updates. You must be connected to the Internet in order for this to work.
| To activate or configure your new 5.x plug-ins, follow these steps: |
- Click Wash Items. If you do not see this button on the left side, click Advanced. All buttons will display.
- Click Plug-ins.
- Click Plug-in Detection. The plug-ins will activate.
We recommend that you routinely update your plug-ins.
Plugins for Window Washer version 4.8 and earlier are no longer available. If a new plug-in is needed, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of the software.
