System boot failure means that the system cannot load the
operating system properly.
To help resolve system boot failures:
1. Configure the system to its barebones. Only connect what is needed in order for the system to boot, (Motherboard, processor with heatsink and fan, memory, video card, hard drive with operating system, and CD-Rom if needed).
2. Ensure all components are compatible and installed properly.
3. If the motherboard emits a series of beeps when power is applied refer to the motherboard manual or contact the motherboard manufacturer for a list of beep code errors. The pattern of the beeps indicates what type of problem the BIOS has detected.
4. To determine if any of the components is defective, individually replace each device with a new or known working component.
5. Install a fresh copy of the operating system. Prior to reinstalling the operating system, make sure to backup all necessary data on the existing hard drive.
Note: If
system boot failure is resolved, but reoccurs when all system components are installed, it may be caused by insufficient power. Use a power supply that provides more wattage than the total wattage required by all system components.
