Internet Explorer Clear Internet Explorer address bar auto-complete entries through registry.

The following are the detailed steps. Note: Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer including your registry (see, How to backup windows registry?).

  1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.

  2. In the Open box, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.

  3. In Registry Editor, locate the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLsr (Windows 9x)
    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21...\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs (WinNT/2000)

  4. When you type a URL in Internet Explorer (IE), the system automatically completes known entries with data stored in this registry key. Each time you type in a URL and press the Enter key or the Go button, that URL is stored in this location.
