How to clean Windows Vista Registry

RegistryBooster 2010 - You no longer need to guess! This free stability scan will help you clean, repair and optimize your system in an easy way.

How to clean Windows Vista Registry?

The Windows Vista Registry stores operational information for your computer. Whenever you make a change to the control panel, system settings or installed software, the registry saves the change and remembers it for future use. Unfortunately, the registry is also the main target of most malware, such as viruses and spyware. To clean it up and keep your Windows Vista running smoothly, run a registry cleaner every now and then.

  • Step1. Check out the homepages of Uniblue's Registry Booster and PC Tool's Registry Mechanic (see software left). These are the two leading Vista-compatible registry cleaners.

  • Step2. Download and run the trial versions of both programs before deciding which one you're going to buy.

  • Step3. Install and launch the fully functional version of whichever cleaner you've chosen. Trial versions usually only scan a small portion of your registry, so buying the full version is necessary to give your Vista machine a comprehensive cleaning.

  • Step4. Launch the registry cleaner and conduct a full scan of your computer. This sweeps the entire registry and repairs any errors the program finds.

  • Step5. Approve any changes to the registry the program wants to make.

  • Step6. Restart your computer, if necessary.

  • Step7. Maintain your PC's health with regular registry sweeps. If your registry cleaner gives you a choice, conduct a quick scan instead of a full registry scan for each of these check-ups.
