At every startup a Windows message appears saying "Restarting your computer is required". If the response is yes, the computer reboots and the same message appears. If the response is no, the message disappears and the computer functions normally. Several Windows updates have been processed since this message first appeared. You tried all the way you can imagine but this annoying message still pop out. Do not worry this guide will tell you how to solve this problem.
You should state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3) when posting to this newsgroup to delete this message "Restarting your computer is required", do the following steps:
Step 1: Stop the Automatic Updates service by the following: Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]. Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Stop.
Step 2: Delete the contents of the Download folder: Start > Run > (type in
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]. Open the Download folder and delete its contents. Close the window.
Step 3: Open Control Panel -> Automatic Updates and select the "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them" option.
Step 4: Start the Automatic Updates service: Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]. Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Start button.
Step 5: When Automatic Updates next notifies you of available updates, do NOT approve any
downloads yet, but post a
reply to this message and tell us what update(s) are being offered.
Once you have done all the steps above mentioned, you have stated your full Windows version. And you will not see the message of "Restarting your computer is required" any more. This problem is caused by Windows update. While you should pay attention to other Windows update error, such as
error 646,
error 80070424,
