With Chico WebTool you can create a tree structure of related web pages through a web browser With Chico WebTool you can create a tree structure of related web pages through a web browser and the links between these pages are automatically created and dynamically managed. Our simple, intuitive interface is newbie friendly--if they can send email, they can use WebTool.

Web Tool is well suited for small and medium-sized businesses and organizations. A number of web development firms are now using this software to allow their clients to create and update their own web site content. Web Tool is an easy to manage alternative to expensive Content Management Systems.

Here are some key features of "Chico WebTool":

  • Users add pages, WebTool links them together automatically.
  • No limit to the number of pages or the depth of the links.
  • The body of each page can be plain text or valid HTML.
  • WYSIWYG preview of each page with a single click.
  • Pages are based on easily customizable HTML templates.
  • Does not need a SQL database, only Perl/CGI access.
  • Creates static HTML pages, no CGI calls to view pages.
  • Completely free, released under the GPL license.


    Requirements:
  • A web server or a web hosting account that allows CGI scripts.
  • Perl 5.003 or greater installed on server.
  • An adminstrator who can install CGI scripts on the server.
  • An adminstrator who can manually edit HTML files (for templates).
  • Web Tool has been successfully installed on linux, Win32, BSD, MacOS X and solaris server platforms.


    Limitations:
  • There is no integrated user management.
  • The template is fixed to have a single textbox area for user input.
  • The system does not support image file uploading.
  • Web Tool 2.0 addresses these limitations.
