But Windows File Explorer uses a different approach: it features many options that Microsoft's Windows Explorer is missing like image preview and it has two fixed file views side by side (but can be change to a single file view) that is useful when copying many files from folder to folder

Here are some key features of "Windows File Explorer":

  • Support Microsoft's Windows Explorer context menu (if you install a program like winrar that adds icons to the context menu: it will be added to Windows File Explorer menus too.
  • Support Thumbnail views of images (Win ME, 2000, XP & 2003 Server).
  • Supports Drag & Drop with the mouse.
  • ZIP Archives are handled like subdirectories. (Win ME, 2000, XP).
  • Built in image file viewer (supports bmp, jpeg, png, gif, tiff, pcx, pbm, pgm, ppm, tga, dib, rle, wmf, emf, icons and cursors.
  • Unzip (Win ME, XP) - Will be supported for all operating systems later
