Use the rule based system to create advanced renaming tasks and apply them to your files and folders. Dozens of available rules give you the power to complete almost every possible renaming task. Create custom sets, save them and use for every file and folder collections may you have.
Dynamically create new names
Create the new names dynamically using dozens of available variables. Variables let you retrieve information from your files and put them directly to your filenames. NIYoW is able to get information from MP3 music files, JPEG images, MIDI music files, HTML files and Office documents.
Preview the new names before renaming
Using the Instant Preview feature you are able to predict the new names without damaging the original names. Add rules, customize them and watch the predicted renaming results on the fly. When the results seem to be as you wanted, run the renaming process to apply the changes.
QuickRename directly from Windows Explorer
Don't want to load NIYoW every time you need to rename files? No problem! NIYoW has the solution for you! Using the new feature of QuickRename you are able to rename files directly from Windows Explorer. Right click the folder where your files reside, choose a renaming task and rename. No need to load the NIYoW, configure the rules, load the files, preview the names and only then rename.
Set the ID3 tags of multiple MP3 files at once
Using the advanced tag editor you can edit the tags of multiple MP3 files at once. Choose the files, set the ID3 fields you want to modify and finally update. NIYoW will automatically apply the updated fields to all of the selected files. NIYoW supports both the classic ID3 v1.x tag and the also the modern ID3 v2.x tag, all from one single point.
Generate ID3 tags for MP3 files directly from their filenames
MP3 files often do not have ID3 tags filled which results in distorted song name display in media players. In cases where these files have the song details in their filenames, NIYoW has a fast and efficient way to automatically create the ID3 tags for all files at once! Using the powerful tag generator, you are able to retrieve information from filenames and put it directly within the tags without being need to type it manually for each file.
Set the attributes and time stamps of multiple files and folders
How many times you needed to remove a read-only attribute from files from several locations in your computer? How many times the time stamp of pictures distorted when you copied them from your digitial camera to your disk? NIYoW is able to handle these tasks easily using the advanced properties editor. Not like Windows Explorer, NIYoW is able to set the attributes of files and folders from several locations on your disk with just a click. In addition, set the time stamp of multiple files and folders and even dynamically set the time stamp based on the date and time the pictures from your digital camera taken!
Set the summary information of MS Office documents
NIYoW can help you organize your documents collection easily by setting their summary information details. Every MS-Office document has summary information such as Title, Subject, Author, etc. These details can be used by MS-Office or even by Windows Explorer to recognize the document and view useful details about them. Note that these details are also available for any type of file that resides on NTFS volumes.
Export and import rule sets
Save your custom rule sets and use them for any file or folder collections you have. These rules can also be used in conjunction with the QuickRename feature to apply rules to folders directly from Windows Explorer.
Undo last renaming task
Oops.. made a mistake? Don't panic! NIYoW will let you to recover your original filenames with just a click! NIYoW will always record the last renaming process and let you undo the changes even if you already closed the program and even days and months after the process was done! Using the powerful Disaster Recovery feature the whole renaming process is saved and can be undone whenever you need.
Detailed renaming report and event logging
Monitoring your tasks is extremely important especially when handling hundreds and thousands of files. NIYoW records every step you take in log file you can view later and examine. In addition, in the end of each renaming process a report is shown, giving you a detailed information about the renaming results.
