If You browse Internet or simply use Your computer, Windows uses files needed temporarily but afterward they will unnecessary.

An example to explain first event: the browser clients store e.g. pictures of visited sites automatically on Your computer, that when You visit them again, the sites can be faster downloaded. This case can be useful when You visit the requested site in a short time again.

But when site or pictures will changed these pictures (and other files) will remain unnecessary on Your computer. An example to explain the second event: if You open a compressed (packaged, zipped) file, the unzipper client must once unpack them in a storage folder. If You close compressed files the unpacked formats will remain in storage folder unnecessarily.
