FolderCloak, by filesee.com is an interesting utility that lets you hide folders so others can't see them. I had to kind of laugh when I looked at the developers site. I had assumed that the term "cloak" was taken from the cloaking device used by the Klingons. Not so. On the Web site it says that the program puts a "Harry Potter invisibility cloak" on your folders. So, same concept, different source. In any event, FolderCloak makes the folders you select not only totally invisible, but the files can't be accessed in any way.
In testing it out I tried a few tricks to see if I could unhide the folders I'd hidden, but no dice. FolderCloak is very easy-to-use and perfect for both new and experienced users. While your hidden folders are un-cloaked you can work with them just like always. When you cloak them, however, they can't be seen or accessed. That means you don't have to worry about anyone getting at your private files. I also found that should you uninstall the program all of your folders are still there and visible. So, if you'd like to hide the contents of certain folders FolderCloak might be the solution you've been looking for. Check it out.
