Wii and PS3
Wii is a domestic video game console launched by Japan Nintendo corporation. As a competitor with Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox 360. Nintendo declairs that their product targets - a broader demographic than that of both.

Different with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii applies wireless controller, the Wii Remote that can be used as a handheld pointing device and detect movement in 3D. Another special designing of the device is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates via networks while in standby mode.

Configurations of Nintendo Wii

  • Supported media - 12cm Wii Optical disc and 8cm Nintendo GameCube game disc
  • Storage - different with Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii only has 512MB flash memory, not hard disc drive. It supported SD, SDHC and Nintendo GameCube Memory card.
  • Graphics - internal ATI "Hollywood"
  • Input controller - unique remote wireless controlling. Wii Remote, Blance Board and Nintendo DS.
  • Peripheral connectivity - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 2x USB 2.0 port.


PlayStation 3 (Official Marketed PLAYSTATION 3) is the third version domestic video game console, developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. The PlayStation 3 competes with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.

There are five PlayStation 3 hardware models that are commonly referred to by the size of their internal Hard disc drive: 20, 40, 60, 80 and 160GB models.

As the seventh generation of video game consoles competitors, Nintendo Wii and PS3 have their own features. The same function that Nintendo Wii also support video playing just like Sony PlayStation 3. Wii supports playing 480p, 480i and 576i full-screen (4:3) or wide-screen (16:9) videos. But comparing with Sony PlayStation 3 and Mircrosoft Xbox 360, Nintendo has disparity at some of its performances.
