Windows platfrom can supports USB devices from Windows 98, and at first the USB device needs corresponding driver programs to run on Windows. After Windows 2000, NT and latter Windows XP, Vista, it won't need installing driver for some USB devices for running, such as: USB flash disc, MP3, MP4 player etc. Webcam still needs install driver program for its running on operating system.

Although Webcam brings much more benifits to us, there is also a privacy protection problem. If you install a Webcam on your computer, some hacker may invade and control your operating system, capturing some video about your privacy without your recognization. So science is double-edged sword.
