Stitch Maps 2.5 - Set Google Earth Graphics Mode to DirectX.

  • Stitch maps together to build one overall map.
  • Join your scanned or digitized individual maps into a single, shareable map.
  • Capture and join Google Earth images into a single calibrated map.

  • How does StitchMaps work?
The program moves and compares each map in the first row one at a time to the map on the left until matching features are found and aligned within the overlap area.

From there, each map in the remaining rows are connected from top to bottom. Each map is aligned with its column and positioned to overlap the same amount as defined by the first row.

As each map is moved a search is performed within a defined band that looks for matching features in a designated area of the target image.

The map is placed once these matching features are found and aligned.

The size and position of the search band and the target area is defined in the settings and can be altered during the search.

    Stitch Maps features
    • StitchMaps makes joining these maps simple.
    • The result is a map that is suitable for programs that use raster images.
    • The source maps can be created by scanning templates or by exporting from digitized maps.
    • The resulting stitched map is a raster image, similar to a digital photo.
    • Note that the creation of vector images such as those used for road navigation programs is not possible with this method!
    • StitchMaps is available in a trial version, a standard version, and a plus version. The trial version has all the functions and tools of the full version except that the resulting output map and calibration cannot be saved.
    • Besides the full functionality of the standard version, StitchMaps Plus has the ability to automatically copy, download, and join Google Earth images into a single, seamless and geo-calibrated map.
