Though a launch date for Opera 10 hasn't yet been known, an alpha version of Opera 10 is now available for public testing. Opera has just released the first beta of the upcoming major new version of its web browser, Opera 10. It's free and available for Mac, Windows and Linux.
This version brings a number of new functions. It's a definite change from the the thick black tabs used in the previous version and more like the designs implemented in other popular browsers.
What's new in Opera 10
- Update automatically when new releases become available.
- Opera crashlogging tool is added on to Opera 10.
- Opera inline spelling checker is added on to Opera 10.
- Opera Speed Dial configuration options is added on.
- Opera Tab Bar thumbnails and Opera Turbo.
- Improved Opera Presto 2.2 rendering engine.
Spelling errors are now indicated as you type via a dotted red underline
in all places where you can input text: form fields, Opera Mail compose
windows, Notes, Chat, etc.
Opera User Interface
New skin elements have been applied to the Opera 10 Beta 1 user
interface, and will continue to be added. Easily configure how many
speed dials will fit comfortably on your Opera desktop.
Web specifications support
Support for the CSS3 color, Support has been added for the CSS
Selectors API. HTML 5 and Scalable Vector Graphics support.
Web fonts support.
Opera 10 for mobile devices
Opera has a stronger market share on mobile devices such as mobile
phones, smartphones, and personal digital assistants. Editions of Opera
are available for devices using the Symbian and Windows Mobile
operating systems, as well as Java ME-enabled devices.
Opera 10 performance
Opera 10 beta sports a new look, 23% boosted performance than last
version. A highly revamped rendering engine gives the first public beta of the
new Opera browser 28% better performance than the latest stable Firefox.
