Apple Mac iMovie
On Windows, we could create a video file with Windows Movie Maker, but on Macintosh, can we also do this?

Well, the answer is affirmative, Apple iMovie is such kind of a video making application for Mac users to create their own home movie as they want. iMovie was first released by Apple corporation in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 component bundled with first FireWire enabled consumer Apple model - iMac DV.

iMovie imports video footage to the Mac using either the FireWire interface on most MiniDV format digital video cameras, the USB port, or by importing the files from a hard drive, from where the users could edit video clips, add titles and music. Effects include basic color correction and video enhancement tools, and transitions such as fade-in/out, and slides.

Features about Apple iMovie

  • Direct triming of video and audio clips.
  • Snapping sync for video and audio, audio waveforms, and listening audio while scrubbing.
  • Multiple clip sections.
  • One video track, two audio track.
  • Voice-over narration can be recorded from a microphone and added to an audio track.
On January 6th, Apple released the new iMovie HD version, which allows Mac users to create a high quality video by themselves. iMovie HD includes support for HDV (720p and 1080i) and integration with the rest of the iLife suite, with toolbox buttons allowing the importing of images from iPhoto, music from iTunes and the setting of chapter markers ready for exporting to iDVD.
