Set Easiest passwords would be easiest stolen
Our service support staff always hear from a number of customers that they claim their passwords were stolen and tampered, as a result, their passwords are hard to retrieve.
As long as the long battle with spyware, please always keep an eye to the malicious wares, and do not forget these easiest to crack password, for these two reasons are the main ones that cause your password lost.
What are these weakest Passwords (The list is in no particular order)?
password
123456
qwerty
abc123
letmein
monkey
myspace1
password1
blink182
your first name (e.g. Jason, Irene.)
Why do they top the most common (easiest to crack) password list?
1. Remember the first golden rule: setting passwords can not be "the simpler, the better", though the simple password can be easily remembered, the other side of it is to crack easily. We can see top 1 "password" is really top dangerous password to use!
2. Your passwords sometimes show your private information - when you apply an Email address, your personal information is required. If you set the passwords too easy as "123456" or your first name - your identity is quite easy to steal by hackers.
3. MSN is convenient for us to communicate and the passwords of it should be important - and the settings of MSN password requires users to answer the questions as the recovery proof - "What is your favourite animal?" or the like. I am very surprised at "monkey" as the first choice. If you select " what is your favourite animal" as the proof, do not only input the animal's name - why not mix animal's name and some digits? Just change a little, your password would be stronger (such as "mo98nk076e5y").
4. Many users may feel strange to see the number 9 (blink182), so do I. While you may find a similarity among No.4, No.7,8 and 9, they are similar because they are all alphabets add digits, the difference is No. 9 is a little more complicated. It is also easy to crack if your password hint answer sets as "my favourite band".
Solutions:
1. Before setting passwords: use a spyware remover tool to scan the whole system, as there would be some keylogger to record the keyboard typing.
2. In the process of setting Passwords: keep in mind that a simple and single English word is the easiest one to be cracked (the continuous digits as well) thus they are should be abandoned. A strong password should be a mix of letters and numbers, but do not use too easy combo as No.4, 7, 8, and 9 show.
3. In case that one of your password would miss, you'd better not set them as the same ones - and you can try a certain password recovery tool: Recover Password
