SpeedUpMyPC - Scan junk file, Delete junk file |
|
Windows applications create numerous files on the hard disk for temporary storage of data. These files are supposed to be removed when the respective application terminates but in most cases, they often remain there. The causes of this may be many, example program errors, restarting the system, improper shutdown etc.
You may have saved redundant files while using a certain application and forgot to remove them. Over time, these obsolete or junk files take up valuable disk space as well as give rise to problems such as cross linked references to drive. This confuses and wastes user time. Unfortunately, not all of these type of problems are detectable by programs like Scandisk, Defrag etc. You would have to search and remove these files manually.
Junk File
Some categories of junk files are displayed with their extensions and description. These junk files can produce self-explaining problems, for example:
- Cross-linked References
- Application Crash
- Application Errors
- Virus such as Behavior
- Reboot
Often a computer is sluggish or crash because an application takes control over the CPU and prevents other applications from using it.
SpeedUpMyPC monitors your CPU usage and assigns the CPU resources to the applications that are really important. SpeedUpMyPC even prevents crashes by assigning more CPU resources to critical system processes, just in case an application tries to use all CPU resources. |

Select Items You Want to Scan
Using File Clean Up, you can go for a Complete File Scan which selects all the categories by default or you can select the problematic categories only from the following:
- Temporary Files
- Application Crash
- Application Errors
- Virus such as Behavior
- Reboot
|
Select and click on Start Scan. The System Path and the file being scanned are displayed on top.

|
| Double-click on any file category and it will display a list of file types, from which you can select the type to search by selectively checking the file categories you wish to examine. Buttons have been provided here to Add more categories, Edit or Remove them. You can also adjust your Default List. If you see any ‘junk’ files, which you do not wish to delete, then simply click on the Ignore button. This will take you to another box, which will let you add those files in a user selected folder. This folder will not be scanned. |
| A summary of the files found after scanning is displayed in categories. You can click the Clean button after selecting all the categories you want to delete.
To get the list (File Information) of a category, select it and click on the button, Detail View. The Close button lets you close the window. |
A progress bar displays the cleaning process. Finally a popup informs you when it’s finished.
