Step1:
The first time you run SpamEater Pro 4.0, you need to enter the basic information to start SpamEater Pro.
Clicking the New Profile Information Packet button will display a worksheet, that you can print out, showing the information needed to setup an account profile in SpamEater Pro and the steps to locate the information in many popular email client programs, also a list of the servers for some popular ISPs. |
Step2:
Approved Senders in SpamEater Pro are people you always want to receive messages from.
SpamEater will never automatically reject messages from Approved Senders. To import addresses, simply select the program the addresses are in and click the Import button. You can do this multiple times as needed to import from multiple sources. When you have completed all of the desired address imports. |
Step3:
Here you need to enter a display name for your first account profile in SpamEater Pro.
This is displayed on the menus as well as in the Profiles area. This can be any text you like, up to 50 characters in length, and must be unique within SpamEater Pro. Then you need to enter your name and email address. |
Step4:
You need to enter the name of the incoming POP3 and outgoing SMTP mail servers. The names of these servers is commonly the same, although this is not always the case.
This information will be provided to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This is also the same information as you have setup in your email software. |
Step5:
Enter your user name and password for accessing the account on the servers you entered above.
This is usually the name part of your email address (the part to the left of the @ symbol in your email address), or, in some cases, may be your entire email address. Check with your ISP or in your email program if you are not sure. |
Step6:
You need to select the type of connection you have to the internet.
Most broadband users should select the Direct Connection option. If you use a modem to connect to the internet, then you'll want to select the Dial-up Connection option. |
Step7:
Now, you should test the information you've entered for your Internet connection and for the email account information entered.
Clicking the test button will have SpamEater connect to the internet, check the connection to the incoming POP3 mail server and will attempt to send a short message to you using the specified outgoing mail server.
| |
Step8:
This is where you tell SpamEater Pro how to schedule checks for this account and how often to check messages.
It is highly recommend that you set this to periodically check messages on your account, particularily if you are on a full time Internet connection such as with DSL or Cable connections. So, you can set the schedule to check messages every 5 or 10 minutes. Manual schedule is that you have to manually tell SpamEater Pro to check messages |
It is recommended that you now turn off automatic Send/Receive in your email program. SpamEater Pro needs to check your messages on the server before you download them with your email program. If you have it set to automatically retrieve your messages, there may be some that are not checked first by SpamEater. You can set SpamEater Pro to open your email program for you when new messages are waiting - and that will also trigger many to automatically then retrieve your messages from the server. |
