Source Code for Licensing of Visual Basic 6.0 Application
WLock is a VB6.0 Class Code, which can be integrated into any Visual Basic Project for protecting the intellectual property of the developer. The Setup consists of two parts License Manager and Test Application.

WLock reads a set of 14 machine constants of the users PC and generates an encrypted text file, containing the machine constants and Users Details. This file is then to be sent to the developer.

The License Manager at developer's end records the user details and her machine constant. Out of the available 14 constants, developer then chooses one or more constants and generates the corresponding License Key, after selecting a host of license parameters.

This License Key is then sent back to the user, who enters the same into the Test Application. The Application behaves as per the programmed license key.

Main features of WLock Licensing Source Code:

There are 14 machine constants, and the list is extensible – You may have 100 such constants. This feature is provided because it has been observed that only one selected constant may not be applicable to all types of PC. For example, the HDD Firmware Serial Number is retrievable only for IDE-type HDDs. Also, there are some constants which are readable by Administrators / Power Users only. To cater for this anomaly, a set of 14 different constants is provided

Another unique feature is that, the constant on which the License Key is to be based is decided by the developer not at design time but while issuing licenses. So, in effect, developer can grant keys based on Constant-1 to some users and Constant-2 to others – for the same Software Application. Or, she may grant multiple license keys (Max. 14) to the same user for a particular Software Application. For example, if the user replaces her HDD, then developer can re-issue the License key based on Processor ID.

WLock does not depend upon any third-party control. However, the Reporting of License Manager is provided by TanDB.
