    Q: What it is the system requirement?

  • Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP or higher operating system.
  • DirectX 8.0 Runtime or higher
  • Pentium 300 MHz or better (for higher ripping speed)
  • 128M or more RAM
    Q: The converted video file has no sound.
  • You will have to install video codec on your PC.
    Q: Can I play DVD from my hard disk?
  • Yes. Choose Backup DVD to Hard Drive to backup your DVD. Using a DVD player such as PowerDVD or Windows Media Player, choose open file from the menu.
    Then browse to the VIDEO_TS folder in the directory which you have backup the DVD. If the program ask for a file to be played then choose VIDEO_TS.IFO file. Click OK and you are done.
    Q: Can I split DVD-9 and burn it with Nero into two discs.
  • Sure. Choose split DVD-9 into two DVD-5 discs. The DVD-9 disc content will be copied to your hard drive under your selected directory. It will be named Disc1 and Disc2. Drag the contents of Disc1 and later Disc2 to Nero file browser space. Then you can start the burning process sequentially.
    Q: I want to convert my DVD to VCD and burn it.
  • That's easy. Use Convert My DVD to other format. Set the output file FORMAT as AVI or VCD(MPEG1) and rip the DVD to your hard drive. After you have ripped your DVD, drag the file to Nero file browser space and burn it to your VCD. That's all!
    Q: Converted file cannot be played on my PC.
  • You will have to install video codec on your PC.
    Q: The audio that I rip is distorted and has cracking noises.
  • This is NOT a common problem but may happen if your DVD drive is too old. To solve this, go to the Settings page and reduce the Audio Volume Settings to 2.0 or 1.5. You can just experiment by ripping briefly and change the value to suite.
    Q: The audio and video do not synchronize.
  • This is not a common problem and may happen infrequently with NTSC DVDs. Go to the General Settings page and check the "Audio / Video Synchronization" in the General Settings page. Convert again and you will see the problem gone.
  • If the above does NOT work, go to the Settings page and try to change the Frame Rate to 29.97 or 23.967. Try also Force 24Hz by checking this box. You can try a combination of these settings.
    Q: What is ASPI?
  • ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface) is a device driver is required for digital audio extraction or CD ripping. The driver is made by Adaptec. Win98 and 95 comes with the ASPI driver installed but not for the later versions(Windows NT, XP and others).
    Q: What are DVD IFO and VOB files?
  • IFO (and backup .BUP) files contain menus and other information pertaining to the DVD video and audio.

  • VOB & AOB files VOB files (for DVD-Video) and AOB files (for DVD-Audio) are MPEG-2 program streams with additional packets containing navigating and search information of the DVD.
