Before capturing Hi8 video to DVD, make sure the Easy VHS to DVD software has installed to your Mac computer, contains Easy VHS to DVD Capture and Toast 9 Basic.

Step 1: Connecting Hi8-VCR to Mac.
a. Connect the Roxio Video Capture USB device to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac.
b. Connect the Roxio adapter to the video capture device.
c. Using the video cable provided with your Hi8 player, connect the video Line Out connector on Hi8-VCR to one of the two video plugs on the Roxio adapter.
d. Connect the two Audio Out connectors on your Hi8-VCR to the audio adapter (red and white plugs) attached to your Roxio USB capture device.
Ensure the Roxio Video Capture USB device is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac, and that your Hi8 VCR is connected to the Roxio adapter.
Note: The Roxio Video Capture USB device should be connected
directly to your Mac, not through USB ports on a Cinema
Display, keyboard, or USB hub. |
Step 2: Capturing video from Hi8 tapes.
In the Applications folder on your hard disk, open the Easy VHS to DVD for Mac folder and double-click the Easy VHS to DVD Capture icon. Select a name for your captured Hi8 video and select an approximate length for the movie.
a. The Connect Video page allows you to select between using the S-Video or Composite (RCA) connection. You can also preview your movie to ensure that your Hi8 video displays correctly.
b. The Connect Audio page allows you to verify that audio can be captured correctly.
c. The Record page allows you to click the Start Recording button. Now that movies movies have been copied and saved from Hi8 tapes to your iMovies
folder, you can select one of the following options:
1. Send to toast (DVD burning); 2. Edit with iMovie; 3. Send to QuickTime player.

Step 3: Converting captured Hi8 video to DVD.
Open the Easy VHS to DVD for Mac folder and double-click the Toast Basic
icon to launch the included Toast software. At the top-left of the Toast window, click "Video", then choose the DVD-Video project to do optional disc settings, such as Automatic or Custom Encoding.
Click "Record" to continue, captured Hi8 video on your Mac will be converted into DVD in a short time, you can turn off the screen and do something else, it will complete the rest for you.
