What is Program Activation? |
| Program Activation is a way to make sure that Symantec programs are legally licensed. Programs that are not activated will stop working in 15 days. So after you download and install Norton Personal Firewall 2006 in your PC, you need to activate the program. |
How to activate Norton Personal Firewall 2006? |
To activate Norton Personal Firewall 2006, you need to connect with internet. When you install Norton Personal Firewall 2006, you are asked for product key, which will be sent to a Symantec server, and then Norton Personal Firewall 2006 is activated.
If you are install Norton Personal Firewall from a CD, the product key can be found on the CD sleeve
If you bought Norton Personal Firewall online, the product key will be built into the program. |
How to access my online product key? |
| To access you online product key, open the product main window, click Help and Support, and then select Norton Account from the menu. Click log on, then choose My Product Tab, Click on Personal Firewall 2006. |
Is there a grace period to enter the product key? |
| Norton Personal Firewall can only work 15 days if you does not activate the program with product key. |
Do I need to activate my firewall again if I need to reinstall it? |
| Usually you don't need to activate it again, since Norton Personal Firewall can auto memorize the previous installation. However, you need to activate the program after you format hard drive or reinstall operating system. |
After finish installing, Norton ask me to register an account, Why Do I need it? |
| Your Norton Account organizes and stores your Norton product keys online for easy access and retrieval. |
What do I need to do if I get a new computer? |
If you buy a new PC and want to use Norton Personal Firewall in new computer, Please follow steps listed below.
- Uninstall Norton Personal Firewall from the old computer.
- Install the same program to your new PC
- When you are asked product key during installation, just type it with your old product key
- Then Norton Personal Firewall can run in your new PC.

Does the product activation need my Privacy? |
| Product activation does not require any of your privacy. It only asks for you to enter product key. The only information sent to Symantec is the product key and a made-up hardware identifier that represent the computer. Neither product key nor the hardware identifier has any personally identifiable information that can be traced back to you. So it is very safe for you. |
How to renew subscription? |
| When your product is close to the expiration date, you will see pop-up reminder. Click on any renewal reminder and follow the instructions. |
