A perl script that generates a static html photo gallery from one or more directories of gif/jpg/png images jigl includes the ability to display comments and EXIF info for each image in a simple clean layout. jigl supports themes and is very customizable.
jigl is written completely from scratch but the idea is heavily based on the program igal. igal did much of what I wanted, but there were a number of things I didn't like about it and found it difficult to modify. I wanted a cleaner solution, and thus jigl was born.
Here are some key features of "jigl":
jigl is one file - minimizing files for installation and maintenance.
Optional info page with EXIF info from photo.
Optional automatic watermarking of the slides.
Control of where watermark is placed on the slides.
Smart file creation, meaning thumbnails and slides won't be regenerated if they don't need to be.
Easily handles multiple directories
Recursive directory traversing.
Automatic image rotation when available.
Create slide comments from EXIF comments.
Multiple index pages for those really big galleries.
Cross platform Linux/Windows 2k/XP. Really any OS that is supported by perl, ImageMagick and jhead
Smart options via a global options file, a local gallery file, and the command line.
Each gallery has control of its own options via the gallery.dat file.
Allows easy method of adding title/header/footer text to index page.
Single place for image captions.
Save options for individual albums for later recreation if necessary

Generates static pages for album distribution (a CD for grandma!)
