Use tags to personalized your email
How to use Tags to customize e-mails? |
|
The feature of delivery that sets MaxBulk Mailer™ a normal e-mail client like Eudora, Entourage or Mail, for e-mail marketing purposes is its e-mail merge personalization options. You can use the special tags [FullName] , [Firstname] , [Surname] , [Company] and [E-mail Address] in order to customize each message with recipients data. Or using any of the 14 date tags available in order to insert the current date and the internal tags to add information about the current delivery. These personalization options are accessed through both the tags pull-down menu and the "Edit | Insert tag" menu. For example you could start your message that way:
Hi [Firstname] [Surname] ,
Chicago , [Month] [Day] , [Year] we are proud to announce...
John will receive the following:
Hi John Donovan,
Chicago , December 10, 2004 we are proud to announce...
The Date tags are self-explanatory. The list below shows the data each one stands for a given date:
[Long Date] Thursday, December 2, 2004 Pro only
[Short Date] 12/2/04 All
[Abbreviated Date] Thu, Dec 2, 2004 Pro only
[Long Time] 6:18:27 PM Pro only
[Short Time] 6:18 PM Pro only
[Day of week] Thursday Pro only
[Day] 2 Pro only
[Month] December Pro only
[Year] 2004 Pro only
[Week of Year] 49 Pro only
[Day of Year] 337 Pro only
[Hours] 18 Pro only
[Minutes] 18 Pro only
[Seconds] 27 Pro only
The internal tags insert información about current delivery. The list below explains the data that will be inserted:
[Delivery Number] The delivery count, the same number that appear in the Delivery Report.
[Recipient Number The recipient number in the list.
[Total Recipients The total recipient count.
MaxBulk Mailer Pro also offers 20 custom Tags named [Opt1] to [Opt20] for e-mail merge that can be used at your own convenience in order to send specific data imported from your database. That is very handy for software developers who need to send serials, schools who need to send scores to their alumni and so on. You can rename them to something that will make more sense like [Address] , [Suburb] or whatever. Read the 'Renaming Optional Tags' below for more information.
Tags are supported in the message body, the signature, the custom headers including standard headers added thru the header editor like 'From'. MaxBulk Mailer Pro also allows the use of tags in the subject of your message.
Renaming optional tags
MaxBulk Mailer Pro offers 20 custom fields you can use to store recipient's data and insert in your message using Tags. Default tags are labeled Opt1 to Opt20. You can rename them to something that will make more sense like [Address] or [Suburb].
If you need to rename those optional tags for the whole application use the 'Preferences...' menu. But if you want to rename tags for only your current document, use 'Rename tags...' menu.
It is strongly recommended to use simple and short words with no accentuated characters nor punctuation signs in order to avoid encoding problems. (a..z, A..Z. 0..9) Hyperlink Manager
MaxBulk Mailer Pro includes a very simple way to store all your hyperlinks, the Hyperlink Manager. Using this feature you can insert hyperlink tags inside your message using the 'Edit | Insert Hyperlink' menu. Hyperlinks tags are surrounded with double brackets this way: <<hyperlink>>
During delivery, hyperlink tags are processed and replaced by proper values depending on the message format. If the message is 'Plain Text' the hyperlink tags are simply replaced by their values. If the message is 'Styled Text' a rich HTML hyperlink is created using the assigned tag name as the clickable text hiding completely the hyperlink URL.
