Create a Demo by Taking Screenshots

There are three capture modes available in DemoCreator to create a demo by capturing screenshots, which are Capture by Application, Custom region and Fullscreen. Select a mode and click the "Record" button to start recording. Before start recording screen, you may choose to whether record narrations, cursor moves and keystrokes or not while reording screen. Besides, by default, DemoCreator generates annotations and mouse clicking animations automatically at capture time, you are allowed to disable this function by removing the check of corresponding options. DemoCreator takes a series of screenshots every time you have mouse click and every time you typing on your computer. If you want to end recording, you can just press F10 on your keyboard or click the End Capture icon on the taskbar at the lower right corner of your screen.
- Application
Select this option to record the actions that performs on the selected application. See the figure below:
Select the application you want to capture and click the "Record" button to start recording. If the dimension or position of the selected application is changed after you selected it, you can click the "Snap the recording area to fit the selected window" button to relocate the recording area on the selected window.
Note: if you capture new slides to insert to the current project, the capture region is fixed as the dimension that the current project holds. In other words, in this condition you can not change the area of the capture region.
- Custom Region
Select this option to record actions within a specified region. See the figure below:

Input width and height of the region you want to record and press the Enter key to apply the specified size. The recording area is within the red markings on your screen. If you want to move the recording area to a different position on your screen, just click (on the upper-left corner of the red rectangle region) and drag the recording area.
- Full Screen
Select this option to record the actions that performs on the entire screen.
If you want to record audio from your computer while recording screen, you need to follw the instructions below before recording:
- Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds And Audio Devices -> Volume -> Device Volume -> Advance, or just double click the "speaker" icon
on the task bar.
- You see the Volume control dialog box. Click Options, Properites, choose Recording, click OK, check Stereo Mix or Mono MIx, close the dialog. If you want to record narrations from microphone, just select Mic. Please make sure your microphone is connected to your computer properly. If you select "Stereo Mix", all sounds on your computer and from microphone will be recorded while recording screen.
- Check "Record Narrations" on Recording dialog.
Check "Record keyboard" to record keystrokes while recording screen. The size of your flash movie will increased a little if you choose to record keystrokes.
After you record your actions, you may need to add and manipulate elements on each slide for better clarifing your demo. See Adding Element. |
