Updating Spam Definitions
Webroot is constantly updating the spam definitions that Spam Shredder uses to detect spam. The definitions are the rules that Spam Shredder uses to determine if an e-mail is spam.You should update the definitions about once a month to ensure that you are using the latest definitions.
Updating definitions does not update the learning database. You are updating that constantly as you work with your quarantined and delivered e-mail. For more information, see Managing Quarantined and Delivered E-mail.
Spam Shredder can notify you whenever new spam definitions are available. You can also check for updated definitions anytime. While your subscription is valid, you can download and install the updated definitions.
Note:
You must connect to the Internet to update Spam Shredder definitions.
To update the Spam Shredder definitions:
- Start Spam Shredder, if it is not already running, and display the main window.
- In the icon panel, click Options.
- Click the Program tab.
- Click Check for Definition Updates.
- If new definitions are available, Spam Shredder downloads and installs them from the Webroot web site. The Download Progress bar shows the status of the download.
- If no new definitions are available, Spam Shredder tells you that your definitions are up to date.
- If you want Spam Shredder to automatically notify you of updates, select the Automatically Download New Definitions option.
