Running a Wash Manually
You can run a wash manually anytime by starting Window Washer and running a wash.
To run a wash:
- Start Window Washer, if it is not already open, and display the Window Washer window.
- For more information, see Starting Window Washer.
- If you want to wash only specific types of wash items, deselect the Include in Wash option for type of wash items you do not want to include.
- If you want to skip all messages during a wash, select the Skip All Messages during A Wash option by clicking Options in the icon panel, then clicking the Program Settings tab.
- Skipping messages makes the wash run faster, but Window Washer will not delete certain files or folders during the wash. Messages let you know that a file or folder you have set up to delete during a wash is a system file or folder. Messages also let you know that a file or folder is in use and give you the option of deleting or not deleting the file or folder.
- If you skip all messages, Window Washer will not delete these types of files and folders during a wash, and you will not see the messages that let you select what to do.
- In the icon panel, click Home.
- Click Wash My Computer Now.
- The Ready to Wash panel displays, showing a summary of the items that will be included in the wash.
- If any of the Custom Wash Items you created are set up to delete a system file or folder, Window Washer displays a message for each file or folder asking you to confirm that you want to delete the file or folder. Click No to keep the file or folder. Click Yes to delete it.
Caution: Typically, you do not want to delete system files or folders unless you are an advanced computer user and are sure that you do not need the file or folder.
- Click Start.
