You are here: Setting Up Wash Items > Changing Microsoft Windows Wash Items > Recent Activity Wash Items
Recent Activity Wash Items
You can wash (delete) information about files you recently opened and Windows programs you used. This does not delete the actual files or programs. It just erases Windows' "memory" of what you recently opened or used.
To change the recent activity wash items:
- Start Window Washer, if it is not already open, and display the Window Washer window.
- For more information, see Starting Window Washer.
- In the icon panel, click Wash Setup.
- Click Edit to the right of Recent Activity.
- Select or deselect the Windows options you want.
Click to see a description of each option.
Option Description Application Debugging History Windows creates this history when it asks if you want to debug an error and you say yes. The file is typically in C:WindowsDebug. This option deletes the log file. Common Dialog History Windows uses these registry entries to store the last files you opened or saved using Windows programs, such as Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer. This option does not delete any of the opened or saved files themselves. It only erases Windows' "memory" of what you recently opened or saved. Direct3D Recent Applications These Windows registry entries store information primarily used by games to aid with the game animation. This option deletes these registry entries. DirectDraw Recent Application These Windows registry entries store information primarily used by games to aid with the game animation. This option deletes these registry entries. DirectInput Recent Application These Windows registry entries store information primarily used by games to aid with the game animation. This option deletes these registry entries. Disk Error Checking Windows ScanDisk program (Windows 95 and 98) or the error-checking program (Windows 2000 and XP) creates these files. These files do not normally contain data you need, and their file names end in .chk. This option deletes all .chk files. Media Player Recent File List If you use the Windows Media Player, this log provides a list of files that you have recently opened using Media Player. You see this list on the File menu in Media Player. This option does not delete the files themselves. It only erases Windows' "memory" that you recently opened the files. MS Paint Recent File List If you use the Windows Paint program, this log provides a list of files that you have recently opened using Paint. You see this list on the File menu in Paint. This option does not delete the files themselves. It only erases Windows' "memory" that you recently opened the files. Recent Network Connections This Windows registry entry stores known network and domain connections. This option deletes this registry entry, so Windows will not remember your recent network usage. Recent Printer Connections This Windows registry entry stores known printer connections. This option deletes this registry entry, so Windows will not remember your recent printer usage. Recent Regedit Commands This log provides a list of all Windows registry changes made using Regedit. This option does not delete the registry changes themselves. It only erases Windows' "memory" that you recently made the changes. You must restart your computer to wash these items. WordPad Recent File List If you use the Windows WordPad program, this log provides the list of files you have recently opened using WordPad. You see this list on the File menu in WordPad. This option does not delete the files themselves. It only erases Windows' "memory" that you recently opened the files.
