Alert displays

When Spy Sweeper detects activity related to any of the shield settings, it displays an alert in one of three ways:

•	An alert window. These alerts require immediate action. They normally relate to a program trying to install itself or make a change on your computer.

In some cases, the alert window provides you with the option of blocking the detected item or allowing it. It also allows you to select Always take the selected action..., so that if Spy Sweeper frequently detects this item, it will always handle it based on your selection here.

•	An alert pop-up near the system tray (lower-right corner of your screen). These alerts do not require you to take action immediately.

Click the link in the pop-up or display the Spy Sweeper window and click Alerts in the Icon panel to see the details. Some pop-ups are informational only and do not have a link for more information in the Alerts panel.

•	On the Alerts panel in the Spy Sweeper Main window (see the example in Monitoring alerts). These alerts also do not require you to take action immediately.

For alerts that do not require immediate attention, you can determine how they open in Spy Sweeper: either in a window in the Alerts panel or as a pop-up near the system tray.

To select the alert method:

1.	From the Icon panel, click Options.

2.	Click the Shields tab.

3.	Under Shield Alerts Method, select either:

•	Show notification above system tray: Shows a small, pop-up window above the system tray (lower-right corner of your screen) whenever Spy Sweeper needs to alert you to an activity that does not require immediate action. If the pop-up has a link, you can click it for more details.

•	Open Spy Sweeper to show alert details: Opens the Spy Sweeper Alerts panel for most types of alerts that require additional information. Some alerts are informational pop-ups, which open only as a pop-up above the system tray.
