Sweeps and quarantine

You can schedule sweeps to run at convenient times, typically while you are away from your computer (the computer must be turned on) or you can run sweeps on demand. The process for locating and removing items found during a sweep include:

Sweep. Spy Sweeper searches for known threats, looking for any items that match definitions in the Webroot threat database. You can specify where Spy Sweeper searches (for example, search specific folders or file types) and the types of threats to include or ignore (for example, bypass tracking cookies).

Quarantine. After a sweep, Spy Sweeper removes items that match threat definitions from their current locations and sends them to a holding area, called the Quarantine, where they are rendered inoperable and cannot harm the computer. You can control whether certain items are always quarantined or whether certain items like tracking cookies are always ignored.

Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus: If Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus detects a virus, it removes the infected portions of a file during a cleaning process, then restores the cleaned file to your computer.

3.

Delete. After items are quarantined, you can delete them permanently or restore them to their original locations. You might need to restore an item if you discover that a certain piece of software will not work without it. You should always leave an item in the Quarantine and test your computer operations first, before deleting items permanently.
