Compress
and FTP Wizard
The Compress
and FTP Wizard is designed to provide an easy step-by-step interface that
allows you to archive files and send them to other people using email.
The Wizard contains three pages:
Choose Files:
Use this page to indicate which files you would like to be added
to the new archive that will be created.
Compression
Settings: Use this page to choose the archive format you would
like to use.
FTP Settings:
Use this page to specify the FTP server to which the archive should
be uploaded. You will need to know the name of the server, the path on
the server to which files should be uploaded, and your user name and password
for that location.
When
you exit the Wizard dialog, the files you chose will be archived and uploaded
to the FTP server specified. No external FTP applications need to be used.
Here's how to use the FTP Wizard
From the Start Menu,
choose All Programs, and then navigate to the StuffIt folder.
Choose StuffIt to launch
the application.
Click the Wizard button
on the StuffIt Deluxe toolbar.
Click the "Compress
and FTP" button on the Wizard page.
The StuffIt Wizard will
now be launched.
The first page is called
"Choose Files". Use Add Files, to choose what files you want
to compress, and use Add folder to choose to compress an entire folder.
Click
here for more details on using the "Choose Files Step".
When you have finished selecting files, click "Next".
The second page is called
"Compression Settings". This step governs how the files selected
in the "Choose Files" step will be compressed. You can choose
to create either a StuffIt X or Zip archive, and you can also open the
Advanced Format Options dialog to define in more detail how the Zip and
StuffIt X archives will be created. You can also choose to create the
archive with encryption in this dialog. Check the "Use Encryption"
check box, and then enter and confirm your password.
The third and last page
is called "FTP Upload Settings". In this page you will have
to enter the name of the FTP server to which you want to upload the archive,
the directory on that server to which files will be uploaded, and the
user name or password you use to access this particular server. Click
here for more details on the FTP Upload Step.
Click "Finish"
to exit the Wizard, and start the process of compressing and uploading
your files.
