Application Options (and their effect)
By default the StuffIt application is configured in a way that will suit most users performing basic compression and decompression tasks. In order to determine your personal preference for several key settings, the application will ask you what you would like to do the first time they are performed. For example, the first time you double click on an archive in a Windows Explorer folder, you are asked whether you would like to open it for browsing, or immediately expand the contents. When you make your choice, this preference will be remembered for the next time you do the same task.
If you want to change any of the settings for the StuffIt application, choose Options from the edit menu to open the Options dialog. The following pages are available that allow you to control all aspects of the application:
