Expanding Archives and Encoded Files
The StuffIt Application provides several ways to expand archives and encoded files.
In a Windows Explorer Folder:
Double Click: When the archive or encoded file is associated with the StuffIt application, you can expand by double-clicking it. The StuffIt application will display a progress bar while expanding the file, and will place the contents of the archive in the same Windows Explorer folder as the archive itself. The first time you double click a StuffIt (.sit) or Zip (.zip) archive, you will be asked whether you want these archive to be immediately expanded, or opened for viewing. If you choose open for viewing, the contents of the archive will be displayed in the ArchiveView panel of the StuffIt application.
Right Click: When you right click an archive or encoded file, you can choose the Expand command to immediately Expand the contents of the archive to the same Windows Explorer location as the archive. If you right click on a StuffIt (.sit) or Zip (.zip) archive you will see View available as a second command. Choosing View will open the archive in the StuffIt application so you can view the contents.
In the StuffIt Application:
Drag and Drop: You can use the Folders tab to navigate to the directory that contains the files you want to expand, and then drag the files you want to open from the Folder Contents panel to the Expand drop area. For more information on Drag and Drop, please view the Drag and Drop topic.
