Emptying the cache
As you open webpages, Safari saves the pages on your computer in a temporary location called the “cache.” If you return to a webpage later, Safari can retrieve the webpage from the cache faster than getting it from the web, so the cache is a good time-saving device for pages you return to repeatedly.
If the content on a webpage seems outdated, you may want to empty the cache to make Safari retrieve the latest version of the page. If you think a webpage is not opening properly, emptying the cache may help.
To empty the cache:
Press Control-Alt-E, and then click Empty.
To reload the current page:
Press Control-R, or click the Reload icon (curved arrow) in the Safari address field.
Reloading a page always shows you the latest version of the page, bypassing the cache.
