Clearing the list of downloaded files
Safari keeps a list of the items you've downloaded. You may want to clear this list to maintain privacy or reduce clutter.
To clear the downloads list:

Choose Action menu > Downloads. (The Action menu is near the upper-right corner of the Safari window, and looks like a gear.)

In the Downloads window, click Clear.
To have the downloads list automatically cleared:

Choose Action menu > Preferences and click General. (The Action menu is near the upper-right corner of the Safari window, and looks like a gear.)

Choose an option from the “Remove downloaded list items” pop-up menu.
