Setting Limits & Jobs
If you do not define any limits or jobs, Radiotracker will attempt to use as much internet bandwidth it can get to rip as many radio stations it can. Without defined limits, a very large archive can easily be created in only a few hours. Radiotracker allows you to specify limits that keep the recording process within your desired scope. For example, you might want to define a data limit if your DSL connection is not flat rate.
Limits
Two different types of limits are available. You can:
- limit the number of stations that should be recorded
- configure the amount of bandwidth that should be used
Activate a limit by clicking on the appropriate check box and selecting the desired constraint from the drop-down list, as well as the corresponding level.
You can change your limit settings at any time, even while recording. Be sure to check the status display area after you have made changes to verify that Radiotracker is working with your new values.
If you reduce the value of a limit in such a way that Radiotracker is forced to stop ripping a station, you will be informed.
There is a certain order in which Radiotracker stops the recordings when the station limit is reduced:
- stations, which are being recorded manually or with "Autorip"
- stations. which are being recorded with the "Wishlist"
- stations, which are playing live
So, if the station limit is set to 1 and you have the live listening activated, you can only record the station you are listening to, even if the Wishlist finds one of you wanted songs during that time it can not be ripped.
Jobs
You have the option to set up jobs to control for how long Radiotracker keeps recording or how much data is stored on your hard drive.
Create a job by activating the appropriate check box and determine the duration of the recording or its size.
If you set up a job to save a certain amount of data on your hard drive, the size of the music files in your MP3 Folder might be different from the job size. This is because jingles and moderations are cut out.
There is also a display that shows you the process of the current job, if you have defined one.
