About Office Multi-document Password Cracker

Office Multi-document Password Cracker is used to get instant access to password protected MS Word and Excel documents. The program provides a simple solution to remove any password (excepting VBA project password) from multiple MS Word and MS Excel documents.

System Requirements

  • Windows 9x / ME / NT / 2000 / XP / 2003.
  • The program can decrypt documents created in MS Word and Excel 97 / 2000 / XP / 2003 and protected with the standard method (compatible with Office 97/2000).
  • The program cannot process documents encrypted with nonstandard CSP (it is possible to select a CSP in Microsoft Office XP / 2003 only) and documents created in the French version of MS Word or Excel 97.

Features and benefits

  • Removes the "open", "write" and "protection" passwords from MS Word documents.
  • Removes the "open", "write", workbook, shared workbook and worksheet passwords from MS Excel documents.
  • Allows to unprotect multiple documents by few mouse clicks.
  • Support for MS Word and Excel 97/2000/XP/2003 with default protection.
  • The length of password does not influence the time needed to remove it.
  • Online document decryption service with guaranteed privacy (used to remove "open" password only).
  • Password protection against unauthorized program access.
  • Easy and user-friendly interface.

Program window

The program window containes a list of password protected documents and four buttons which allow you to add password protected documents to the list, unprotect documents, remove and open documents from the list.

The list of password protected documents is sortable; you just need to click on the column header and the items will be sorted (like the Windows Explorer). Clicking again on the same column header will toggle the sort order and re-sort the items according to the column header. The sort order is shown by means of a small triangle on the header itself.

Besides the "Document name" the list containes the "Protection" field which could take the following values:

  • <demo> - means that the document protected with a password not equal to "test" (in unregistered version only)
  • <simple protection> - means that the document is protected with "write" or "protection" password in case of MS Word documents and with "write", workbook, shared workbook or worksheet passwords in case of MS Excel documents. This type of protection does not require decryption credits.
  • <strong protection> - means that the document protected with "open" password and requires online decryption. The decryption credits required to remove this protection type.
  • <unprotected> - means that the document has been unprotected.
  • <unprotecting> - means that the document unprotection is in progress.
  • <non std CSP> - means that the document is protected with non standard CSP which is not supported by the program.
  • <non std format> - means that the document has non standard format and cannot be unprotected.
  • <Office 95> - means that the document is Office 95 document which is not supported by the program.
  • <key not found> - means that the program failed to find the decryption key for the document.
  • <error> - means that an error occured when the program tried to unprotect document.

When you start the unprotection the "Unprotect" button changes to "Stop" button which allows you stop the unprotection process at any moment.

To remove the selected document from the list use the button or press "Delete" on the keyboard.

To open selected document in MS Office use the button or press "Enter" or mouse double click.

These operations could be also executed by means of pop-up menu which appears when you click the right mouse button on any of the selected items.

Unprotect documents

To start unprotect documents you need to add password protected documents to the list using either the File -> Add directory... / Add files... menu items or the "Add..." button below the documents list. If you choose to add directory, in the appeared dialog you will need to select the directory that contains the password protected documents you wish to add. The program will scan the directory (and all it's sub directories if you chose "Recurse subdirectories" option) for MS Word and Excel documents. You should scan a specific folder (C:My Documents) rather than your entire hard drive (i.e. C:) to shorten the time it takes for the program to scan for documents.

After you have added password protected documents to the list, click "Unprotect" button. In the appeared menu select "All" item to unprotect all documents from the list or "Selected" item to unprotect only selected documents, or "Only <simple protection>" item to unprotect only documents with <simple protection>. When the unprotection is started, the program unprotects all documents with <strong protection> and <simple protection> as shown below.

Documents with <strong protection> require the use of online document decryption service. The search for a decryption key is done on our powerful specialized server, while the actual decryption is performed on your computer. The maximum time needed to remove <strong protection> is about 15 seconds and it does not depend on the password length. Since our server works with just two dozen of service bytes, you can be sure that your privacy is protected. No sensitive data ever leave your computer through our service traffic.

When the program removes the <strong protection> from the document, it displayes the following messages in the status bar:

1. Connecting to the Rixler Server
2. Receiving a response from the Server
3. Searching for the decryption key
4. Decrypting the document

Upon completion of the unprotection process the program displays the following message: "The unprotection has finished !". After that you will be able to open decrypted documents in MS Word or Excel. If you use the unregistered version of Office Multi-document Password Cracker, the documents with <strong protection> decrypted partially. The name of the decrypted file will consist of the original document name and the word "(DEMO)". The original document will not be modified. Documents with <simple protection> unprotected only in case of "test" password. If the password is not equal to "test" you will see <demo> in the protection field.

After you register the program, it will allow you to unprotect documents without limitations described above. Since the unprotection procedure in the registered version is applied to the original document, it is automatically backed up. The backup copy will be saved to the folder where the original document is stored and it will have the same name with the *.bak extension. Due to the backup operation, the possibility of modifying your original document is ruled out.

Each time you decrypt documents with <strong protection> in the registered version, one decryption credit will be subtracted from your registration key. Select Help -> Enter registration code to see how many decryption credits you have left. You will see the “Number of decryption credits” label and the number of your credits. If your decryption credits ended, the program will start trimming documents and ask you to buy a new registration code for complete decryption.

Setting the Access Password

The access password uses to prevent unauthorized program running. To open the "Set Access Password" dialog select File > Set Access Password from the program menu.

To set the access password you have to enter a new password and confirm it by re-entering it in the confirmation field.

It's important to remember that the access password is case-sensitive. It means that the program considers words that have the same letters but in different letter case to be two different words. For example: PASSWORD, password, and PASSword are all three different words.

To remove the current password leave the password entering fields blank and click OK button.

If you have set the access password, the next time you run the program you will be shown the following window:

Just type your current password in the password line and click OK button.
