The Registry Booster User Interface

After Registry Booster completes its startup procedure, the default or main User Interface will appear on the screen. This User Interface contains all you need to perform complete your scans, repairs and defrags.

 

It is important that you use this description of the User Interface as an overview of the various functions of Registry Booster.  We recommend that before running the various features, read Understanding the Windows Registry and this section. After you may approach run the various features by reading the relevant chapters in Using Registry Booster (Scanning and Repairing your Registry, Registry Backups, Registry Restores, Registry Defrags)

 

As such, you need to remember that in Registry Booster there are four main screens:

 

• The Systems Overview Screen

• The Registry Scan Screen

• The Settings Screen

• The Restore Screen

 

The following User Interface highlights will outline the different screens of the User Interface, what they mean and what information they contain.

 

• The System Overview Screen

When Registry Booster starts, the System Overview screen is the default screen.

 

 

To navigate from one screen to the other, you need to click on the tabs in the Navigation Panel.

 

 

The Main Area contains the System Overview or a report showing summary details of:

• Last Scan Date ("No scan performed yet" is the default setting upon first installation)

• Last Scan Results ("No scan performed yet" is the default setting upon first installation)

• Latest Registry Defrag ("Registry not defragged yet" is the default setting upon first installation)

• Latest Restore Point ("Restore point never created" is the default setting upon first installation)

 

This area may be seen below as the area bound in orange.

 

 

The Quick Shortcuts panel on the right shows shortcuts to three features of Registry Booster, namely

 

• Start Scan

Click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your Windows Registry. This is equivalent to hitting the Registry Scan Tab and accessing the Registry Scan Screen.

 

 

 

• Configure Settings

Click on the Configure Settings button to access the Settings screen. This is equivalent to hitting the Settings Tab and accessing the Settings screen.

 

 

• Defrag Registry

Click on the Defrag Registry button to start defragging your Windows Registry.

 

 

Below the Main Area is the Summary Bar or the bar showing the cumulative number of errors found to date and errors fixed to date.

 

 

To minimise Registry Booster click on the Minimise Button on the top right hand corner of Registry Booster . To close Registry Booster click on the Exit Button .

 

• The Registry Scan Screen

To access the Registry Scan Screen, click on the Registry Scan Tab on the Navigation Panel.

 

 

Once the tab is selected, it will change colour:

 

From System Overview...

 

...to Registry Scan.

 

 

On the left hand side of the Registry Scan screen you will see a sub-navigation panel with three main functions. Clicking on each of these functions alternates relevant views or windows.

 

 

 You may also start a scan directly from the System Overview Screen.

 

Registry Scan is the default window within the Registry Scan Screen.  From here you may perform scans and configure the items in your Registry that should be scanned.

 

 

To start scanning your registry, click on the start scan button.

 

 

To configure settings, you should tick the check boxes.  By default, Registry Booster performs complete scans - note the checkbox next to Complete Registry Scan is ticked - .

 

Click the check box from to .  You will notice that all the other selections are now unticked.  You may now configure your preferences.  These preferences are explained in greater detail in Chapter 4 - Registry Scans and Repairs - Partial Scans.

 

The following is an example of a partial scan of a Windows Registry:

 

 

Scan Results allows you to view the results window where Registry Booster displays all the errors and incongruences found within your registry.

 

 

Note that once you run your scan, the Scan Results window pops up automatically to reveal the incongruences found by Registry Booster. Immediately, Registry Booster summarises the problems found in the Attention Bar:

 

 

Below the attention bar is a list of the errors found by Registry Booster. You may scroll this list and select individual entries to repair and which to leave unchanged.  Alternatively, you may decide to leave all unchanged. Click the "Uncheck All" button to do this.

 

Registry Booster also allows you to create a backup of your registry entries before repairing errors found. To do this click on the Create Backup Button:

 

 

 

 

To repair the selected errors click on the Repair Registry Button:

 

 

Click back to the Registry Scan Window by clicking on the Registry Scan button on the sub navigation panel on the left hand side of the user interface:

 

 

You will notice that now the screen is now updated with the results:

 

 

Registry Defrag accesses the defrag window and functionality within Registry Booster.

 

 

Click on the Defrag Registry to defrag your registry:

 

 

 

• The Settings Screen

Click on the Settings tab on the main Navigation Panel ...

 

 

The following screen shot appears:

 

 

Four options are presently available:

 

• Start When System Boost Up - this setting enables Registry Booster to start up when you boot up your computer.

• Start Scan when Registry Booster Starts - this allows you to scan your registry as soon as you run Registry Booster.

• Start Minimised in System Tray - you may prefer to have Registry Booster operate in the background and calling it up as necessary.

• Confirm for Creating Backups before Repairing - it is recommended to keep this setting on. This will make Registry Booster backup automatically you registry before repairing any errors.

 

To select a particular setting/s, tick the check box from to or vice versa.

 

• The Restore Screen

Click the Restore tab to access the Restore Screen which lists all the Registry Backup files that you have created to date.  

 

 

Two buttons may be found on the bottom right hand side of the screen. These either Delete the Registry Backup File or Restore a highlighted Registry Backup file.
