Podcast Downloader

A bit of history...RSS is a type of subscription service, where you use a program to "subscribe" to a website so you can be informed of updates.  Many news and blog websites use this. With RSS feeds you are able to see the latest headlines from many websites in one central place instead of having to visit each site.  There are a variety of programs that let you subscribe and view these headlines (including several web browsers.)  Podcasting is an extension of this where MP3 sound files are included as a type of attachment in the RSS feed.  Radio shows and other audio are the primary types of files today.  But it could easily be other types of data: "Vidcasting, Vodcasting" (or whatever it gets called),  images, etc.

With GetRight's Podcast Downloader, you are able subscribe these different channels, and GetRight will check periodically and automatically download new files.  These files can then be moved onto an iPod or other audio device so you can listen whenever you want.

On the Podcast Downloader window in GetRight, you can do different operations to manage your podcast subscriptions.

Add/Edit/Copy: show the Podcast Properties window.  Most fields are simple and self-explanatory.  You get to choose the Podcast/RSS feed to check, how often to check, where to save the files on your computer, how many files should be added, etc.  For several different media players, you can even choose so that when the download completes, it is automatically added to a playlist you choose.

TIP:  If you leave the Name blank, GetRight will connect to the URL for the podcast and automatically get the title to use as the name.

The Browser button opens the selected podcast feed in the GetRight Browser.  It lets you view all the files currently listed in the podcast to choose any you want to download.

The Go button will check the selected item immediately.
