SNMP Trap Watcher

SNMP Trap Watcher is built to be used to receive SNMP Traps from network equipment, including routers, switches, and workstation SNMP Trap Watcher is built to be used to receive SNMP Traps from network equipment, including routers, switches, and workstations.

Traps are sent when errors or specific events occur on the network. Traps are normally only sent to end stations which are currently sending SNMP requests to the device in question, using applications such as SNMP Manager or HP OpenView. However, some devices can be configured to send Traps to specific management station addresses.

SNMP Traps are sent on UDP port 162, and SNMP Trap Watcher allows Traps to be filtered by string or by type (Enterprise specific or Generic). Using the \'Decode Window\', and selecting a specific Trap from the list, a full decode of the Trap can be displayed. This option is more useful for debugging Network equipment which is in the early stages of development.
