Miranda is free software distributed under GNU General Public License. It is an open source multiprotocol instant messaging application. It is designed to be very light on system resources, extremely fast and customisable.
Pros
Mirandda is small, fast, easy instant messenger with support for multiple protocols with few plugins,fits. It supports all major instant messaging protocols such as ICQ, AOL, Yahoo, Jabber,IRC ect. And it is almost endless possibilityes with contless its plug-ins. It has full message archive database. It saves history on hard disk.
Bads
Though it supports so many protocols, it dose not support video conferencing, environments and games. And sometimes it has to catch up with protocol changes.
Benefits
Because of it is small, it takea a little space of your cpu, so it save some space for you. supporting for so many protocols brings convenience for you. And it is created to be resource dfficient and easy to use. You do not have to learn it specially. It keeps a searchable history for every contact for you. It also lets you search network white pages and add users to your contacts easily. You can ignore certain user events selectivly and set your visibility per contact.
Setup
It requires little installation and can easily be carried around on a single floppy disc. You just click the setup program, without one minute, it is installed. If you do not need it any more, and you want to remove it, what you just do is uninstall it. There is nothing left.
Interface
The interface of Miranda is quite simple. There are only two tabs on the top of the pannel. Because its interface is not bright, so it gives a feel of dull. But this interface and functionality of Miranda can be tweaked and expanded via plug-ins.

It supports Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT. After all it is supported by all of Windows. It uses very little memory.
