Publisher's description of LANOff

Thsi application monitors network connections and optionally initiates computer shutdown LANOff monitors network connections and optionally initiates computer shutdown if the network connection to specified computers is lost. It can be initiated either manually or automatically via the Windows Task Scheduler. LanOff is part of the JSutils group of software utilities which have a theme of energy conservation. This freeware program operates by interrogating each remote computer via a small server program once a second. Up to four remote computers can be monitored or controlled with shutdown being initiated when connection to all specified computers is lost. See Using for information on using the program and how it works.

Uses include unattended backup and restore, shutting down computers when the operation has completed. It can be started via the Windows Task Scheduler at the same time as the operation is initiated. It can also be started manually to allow the host computer to shutdown automatically once a network task has completed.

Requirements:

LANOff requires the utility PsShutdown to run, this can be obtained from http://www.sysinternals.com/ and is part of the Pstools utility package. See the Release Notes for details of installing PsShutdown.

Note

The program requires a registration code to run - this can be obtained free for personal non commercial use from the Download page. Registration codes from previous versions are compatible with version 3.1.
