All aspects of KidzMail, including the server settings and the address book, are controlled through its preferences dialog. Parents can protect the KidzMail preferences dialog with a password so that children can't make any changes without a parent's permission. Children can only send and receive email from the people in their address book.
KidzMail is very simple to use, even for children that can't read or write. Email receipients can only be chosen from the address book. Each person in the address book has a picture so that children who can't read the names can pick out recipients from the pictues. Children then draw a picture using KidzMail's easy-to-use built-in painting tools and then send the message.
KidzMail is a full-featured email client. You can send and receive email, reply to email, and even forward email. There are mailboxes for received email, unsent drafts, filed email, and unwanted email. KidzMail has its own address book that contains the nicknames and email addresses of just those people parents want their children corresponding with.
Furthermore, KidzMail sends real email messages. Other email client should have no trouble displaying email sent with KidzMail. And that includes the text as well as the picture. Pictures are sent as both JPEGs (a popular picture format found on the Internet) and KidzMail pictures. Even somebody without KidzMail should be able to receive and view KidzMail pictures.
