HTTPShield is designed to remove advertisements from HTML pages on loading, before showing them to the user HTTPShield is designed to remove advertisements from HTML pages on loading, before showing them to the user.

HTTPShield is an useful utility for those who want to surf the internet without seeing popups and advertisements.

HTTPShield allows you to:

  • Stop banner advertising
  • Block unwanted pop-up windows
  • Define different parameters for access to virtually each Internet site you visit.

    You can control these parameters:
  • ActiveX controls and plug-ins downloading and launching
  • Flash! animations downloading
  • Java applets
  • Proxy server used
  • Scripted content launching
  • Image filtering - you can define URL witch unwanted images, and you will not see these images anymore!
  • Comment filtering - you can define the pair of HTML comments, and all contents between these comments will be removed from pages you loading.

    With these features you can tune HTTPShield to view only parts of HTML pages you really want to see.

    Here are some key features of "HTTPShield":
  • acts as a local proxy server (therefore, to use HTTPShield it is needed to set up your browser accordingly, see Installation section later in this file)
  • supports multiple interface languages
  • allows to select what to show instead of an advertisement:
    - nothing (i.e. remove completelly)
    - a rectangle of a given color.
  • allows to define sets of parameters for different groups of sites, even for every site you visit
    each parameter set can define the following parameters:
  • "main swith" that allows to disable access to all sites in a given group
  • disable all ActiveX controls and plug-in modules
  • disable Flash! movies - in that case Flash! movies will be processes as an advertisements
  • disable new ActiveX and plug-ins downloading
  • disable Java applets
  • use a specified second-level proxy server to access to sites within the group
  • disable all scripts on pages
  • disable only scripts that open popup windows
  • use image filtering - if a given image URL contains any of specified substrings, this image will be considered as AD
  • use comment filtering - all contents between the specified starting and ending comments will be removed from page
  • disable cookies
  • disable Referrer info
  • all settings HTTPShield saves to the current user registry so every user can have their own settings
