Active WebCam, by Argus Surveillance Inc.is a cool tool for anyone who wants to record video from a video source.You can record from USB cameras, camcorders, analog cameras, and even TV cards. In testing it out I found you can use this program for a number of things. For example, I hooked up a spare Web cam and actually used the program to record surveillance of my basement. Not an exciting video, but it was very clear. I found the program to be easy-to-use and it has an intuitive user interface. To me that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. What's cool is that the program not only records video, but it can also transmit or broadcast it. Slick.

Active WebCam can actually be set up to work with multiple cameras. That means you could use it to create your own surveillance system. The program can even upload your video to your Web site with built-in FTP. I setup the Web cam to watch my office and then send the video to my Web site. I could open a browser on a laptop upstairs and see my office right from the Internet. This would be a cool way to watch your house while you're away. In addition, the program has lotsof other features including the ability to edit videos, add captions,crop, and add time stamps. You can also zoom, pan, and password protect your videos.

Active WebCam is powerful yet easy-to-use. You can use it for fun projects or you can use it for surveillance. It can broadcast video,upload it to your Web site, and lots more. It supports USB and parallel port cameras, as well as other capture devices. The program has lots of impressive features that you really have to try for yourself. Check it out.
