Active WebCam, by Argus Surveillance Inc.is a cool tool for anyone who wants to record video from a video source.You can record from USB cameras, camcorders, analog cameras, and even TV cards. In testing it out I found you can use this program for a number of things. For example, I hooked up a spare Web cam and actually used the program to record surveillance of my basement. Active WebCam captures images up to 20 frames per second from any Video Camera or USB Camera and broadcasts them either from your computer or through any FTP server. Viewers can watch real video, not still images like other software does.
All you need to broadcast is a Windows compatible camera or capture device with a framegrabbing driver. There is no need for a special webcam, for example, you can use a standard tv-card together with a camcorder. With Active WebCam, you can share captured images with Intenet users, monitor your home or office while you're away, watch who is watching your camera. Try it!
