How to use Kandalu X to transfer songs from iPod on Mac?
This section will help you get you started with Kandalu X as quickly as possible. It outlines steps you must take to prepare your iPod, simple copying, and a few basic features of the application. For more advanced features, read the Using Kandalu X and iTunes together section.
Preparing your iPod - read carefully
If your iPod is linked to the computer from which you're running Kandalu X and you have songs on your iPod that you do not want to be erased in a sync with your iTunes library and either of the following two iPod configurations apply to you
- 1. iTunes automatically launches when you connect your iPod and automatically updates the contents of your iPod.
2. Disk use is not enabled.
If your iPod is linked to the computer from which you're running Kandalu X and a sync with your iTunes library will not remove anything valuable and either of the previous two iPod configurations apply to you then it strongly recommended that you turn off auto-launch and enable disk use. To do this
- 1. Launch iTunes with you iPod connected (a sync will probably happen at this point).
2. In the bottom right corner of iTunes there is a button with an image of an iPod. Clicking that button reveals the iPod's options.
3. Find the "Enable disk use" and "Open iTunes when the iPod is attached" options.
4. Make sure disk use is enabled and opening iTunes is not.
If iTunes auto-launch is off and disk use is enabled or the iPod is not linked to the computer on which you're using Kandalu X, then your iPod is ready to be used.
Copying songs to your computer
To copy songs back to your computer, all you have to do is select the songs and click the copy button in the upper right hand corner of the application.

The songs will be copied to the your "Music" folder.
Copying to a different location
To copy songs to a location other than your "Music" folder, open the preferences and switch to the copying section of the preferences. The save location can be changed by clicking the "Change..." button.

You can select any folder on your computer as the save location for Kandalu X, and songs will get copied to that folder.
Other preferences
Kandalu X also includes other preferences to make copying songs from your iPod to your computer more convenient. By default, songs are copied into folders by artist and album. Also, if you copy a song to a location that already has a song with the same title, a similar name is used by default. Both of these preferences are easily changed in the copying section of the preferences.
