To go to the Rescue Center click "Backup / Undo Changes" on the main page of the program. You will see the three links on the Rescue Center page.
- Backup System Settings. Backup the original system settings before using this program. You can undo any changes by restoring from a backup file.
Restore System Settings. Restore system settings from a previously created backup file. This will roll back any changes you made with this program.
Backup / Restore System. This will launch Windows XP Professional backup/restore wizard. For other versions use one of the options above.
After a few seconds you will see a list with all the problems found on your computer. Select any item to see the detailed description below the list. To fix the problem double-click the item (or click on the link in the description below) and the program will show you an appropriate utility for doing this.
Tools - Registry Cleaner
- Registry Cleaner can significantly speed up your system by cleaning your registry and decreasing its size. To start the tool click the "Optimization Tools" button, then click the "Registry Cleaner" hot link.
Registry Cleaner will search for problems in your registry and will display the results to you. Double click on any item were one or more errors were found and you will see a detailed list of registry errors in a separate window. Double click on any item to uncheck it. This will stop Registry Cleaner from fixing this item. Before cleaning the registry you can add all the items you unchecked to the ignore list. Items in the ignore list will not be picked up next time you run Registry Cleaner.
- can give your system a significant boost by cleaning the disks from unwanted files. To start Disk Cleaner click "Optimization Tools", then click "Disk Cleaner" hot link.
Click Next to see the list of items which can be cleaned/removed. Note that some of the items are in red. These items may contain important data and it's not recommended to clean them without making sure you won't lose important information in the first place.
- Many times a lot of unnecessary programs occupy the space on the disks of your computer, slowing it down. To see the list of installed software and uninstall unwanted programs click "Optimization Tools", then click "Uninstall Unwanted Programs" hot link.
Uninstall button will run the removal procedure for the selected software program (recommended), whereas Remove button will forcibly remove the software entry from the registry. The program will still be on the disk, however it will not appear in the list of installed programs. You can then remove such a software product manually.
Use Calculate button to estimate the sizes of installed software products (where possible). Use Search in the Internet button to find more information about the installed programs.
- Windows may be very sluggish during startup if it has a lot of programs installed which start together with Windows. You can use the Autorun Manager to stop unwanted programs from running at Windows startup and make your computer bootup speed much faster. To start Autorun Manager click "Optimization Tools", then click "Customize Windows Startup" hot link.
Uncheck any program in the list to disable it. It will still be in the startup list, but will not start with Windows. The advantage of disabling programs is that you can enable it back in case of any problems. Click Remove to completely delete the program from the list. Note: this will not remove the program from the disk. Use Get More Info button to find out more about the program in the Internet.
You can also automatically protect startup sections. If this option is enabled, BoostSpeed will notify you if any program tries to add itself to the Windows startup list. This is useful if you want to keep your startup speed as fast as possible.
