How to upgrade to CA Anti-Virus 2008? |

CA Anti-Virus Upgrade
You can seamlessly upgrade any of the following products to the latest version of CA Anti-Virus:
- eTrust® EZ Antivirus r6.2
- eTrust® EZ Antivirus r6.3 (English Only)
- eTrust® EZ Antivirus r6.4
- eTrust® EZ Antivirus r7, r7.1, r7.2
- CA Anti-Virus Version 8.1
- CA Anti-Virus Version 8.2
To upgrade to CA Anti-Virus, follow these steps.
Download CA Anti-Virus
You can install CA Anti-Virus from the CA Anti-Virus CD, or download an installation file.
To download CA Anti-Virus
- Click one of the following links:
- Click Save.
The Save As window appears, asking for a location to save the file to.
- Select Desktop from the left side of the window, then click Save.
The file begins to download and a window displays the download progress.
- Close all windows when the download is complete.
You are now ready to perform the installation.
Install CA Anti-Virus
System Requirements
You must meet the following minimum requirements to install and run CA Anti-Virus correctly:
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP
- CPU: 300 MHz (minimum) Pentium-compatible CPU
- Memory: 256 MB RAM
- 25 MB available hard disk space
- Internet Explorer 5.5 (minimum) required
- Internet access required
- CD-ROM drive (If installing from CD)
Windows Vista:
- CPU: 800 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
- Memory: 512 MB RAM
- 25 MB available hard disk space
- Internet Explorer 7 (minimum) required
- Internet Access required
- CD-ROM drive (If installing from CD)
Pre-Installation Tasks
- Uninstall any anti-virus software other than a previous version of eTrust® EZ Antivirus, or CA Anti-Virus. You must uninstall this software and restart your computer before you install CA Anti-Virus. Failure to do so may cause conflicts between the two products, resulting in a system failure.
- Close all programs currently running on your computer before you install the product.
To Install CA Anti-Virus
- If you downloaded the installation file, double-click the file located on your desktop.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the User Account Control window may appear, prompting you to respond. To complete this action you need administrative privileges. Please comply with the User Account Control window to continue.
The installation begins and the Welcome to the CA Anti-Virus Installation Wizard dialog appears.
Note: After double-clicking the file, skip the next two steps.
- If you are installing from the CD, insert the CA Anti-Virus installation CD into your CD drive.
The Installation Menu appears.
Note: If your installation does not start automatically, you can launch it by browsing to the drive containing the CD, and double-clicking on the setup.exe file.
- Select Install from the Installation Menu.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the User Account Control window may appear, prompting you to respond. To complete this action you need administrative privileges. Please comply with the User Account Control window to continue.
The Welcome to the CA Anti-Virus Installation Wizard dialog appears.
- Read the welcome message and click Next.
The CA Product License dialog appears and displays the End-User License Agreement.

- Read the End-User License Agreement. If you agree with the terms of the agreement, scroll to the end of the agreement, select the I accept the terms of the License Agreement option button, and click Next.
Note: If you select the I do NOT accept the terms of the License Agreement option button, the installation will not continue.
The Enter License Key dialog appears.

- Enter your license key and click Next.
Note: The license key was emailed to you after your purchase. If you purchased a CD, the license key is on the back of your CD sleeve. You must enter the key exactly as it appears in the email. If you have difficulty with the license key, or if you cannot find your license key, visit http://www.my-etrust.com/Support/CustomerSupportForm.aspx.
The Installation Path dialog appears.

- Select the folder in which you want to install CA Anti-Virus and click Install.
Note: The default installation folder is C:Program FilesCACA Internet Security Suite. To install the product to a different folder, enter the folder name in the Installation Path field, or click Browse to select the appropriate folder.
The installation begins copying files. It might take several minutes, depending on the speed of your computer and connection. During the process, the installation status is displayed. If you are connected to the Internet, the installation also downloads the latest product updates and signature files. After the installation process is complete, the Product Registration dialog appears.
Note: If you have already registered your CA product using the previously-entered license key, the Product Registration dialog does not appear. Skip the next step.
- If you are connected to the Internet, ensure that you register your product. If you are not currently connected to the Internet, to register when your computer is online, open the CA Security Center and click Help, Product Registration.
The Installation Complete window appears.

- Click Complete to finish the installation.
Your computer shuts down and begins to restart. When your computer restarts, CA Anti-Virus installation is complete.
