How to upgrade to CA Anti-Spam 2008 for Vista?
CA Anti-Spam Upgrade
You can seamlessly upgrade any of the following products to the latest version of CA Anti-Spam:
- eTrust® Anti-Spam r2.1 (English Only)
- eTrust® Anti-Spam r4
- CA Anti-Spam Version 5
To download and install CA Anti-Spam, follow these steps.
Download CA Anti-SpamTo download CA Anti-Spam
- Click one of the following links:
- Windows 98 and Windows ME (6.9 MB)
- Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista (8.7 MB) or cancel the operation.
- Click Save.
The Save As window appears, asking for a location to save the file to.
- Select Desktop from the left side of the window, then click Save.
The file begins to download and a window displays the download progress.
- Close all windows when the download is complete.
You are now ready to perform the installation.
System Requirements
You must meet the following minimum requirements to install and run CA Anti-Spam correctly:
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP:
- Microsoft Outlook 2000, Microsoft Outlook 2002, Microsoft Outlook 2003, or Microsoft Outlook 2007 or
- Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5 or Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0
- CPU: 300 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
- Memory: 128 MB RAM
- 25 MB available hard disk space
- Internet Explorer 5.5 (minimum) required
- Internet Access required
- CD-ROM drive (If installing from CD)
Windows Vista:
- Microsoft Windows Mail
- Microsoft Outlook 2000, Microsoft Outlook 2002, Microsoft Outlook 2003, or Microsoft Outlook 2007
- CPU: 800 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU
- Memory: 512 MB RAM
- 25 MB available hard disk space
- Internet Explorer 7 (minimum) required
- Internet Access required
- CD-ROM drive (If installing from CD)
Pre-Installation Tasks
- To install this product, you must be logged in as a user with administrator privileges.
- Remove any messages that you consider to be junk email from your Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, or Windows Mail Inbox before you install CA Anti-Spam.
- Close all programs currently running on your computer before you install the product.
To Install CA Anti-Spam
- If you downloaded the installation file, double-click the file located on your desktop.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the User Account Control window may appear, prompting you to respond. To complete this action you need administrative privileges. Please comply with the User Account Control window to continue.
The installation begins and the Welcome to the CA Anti-Spam Installation Wizard dialog appears.
Note: After you double-click the file, skip the next two steps.
- If you are installing from the CD, insert the CA Anti-Spam installation CD into your CD drive.
The Installation Menu appears.
Note: If the installation does not start automatically, you can launch it by browsing to the drive containing the CD and double-clicking the setup.exe file.
- Select Install from the Installation Menu.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the User Account Control window may appear, prompting you to respond. To complete this action you need administrative privileges. Please comply with the User Account Control window to continue.
The Welcome to the CA Anti-Spam Installation Wizard dialog appears.
- Read the welcome message and click Next.
The CA Product License dialog appears and displays the End-User License Agreement.

- Read the End-User License Agreement. If you agree with the terms of the agreement, scroll to the end of the agreement, select the I accept the terms of the License Agreement option button, and click Next.
Note: If you click I do NOT accept the terms of the License Agreement, the installation will not continue.
The Lesser General Public Licence (LGPL) window appears.

- Read the LGPL agreement. If you agree with the terms of the agreement, select the I accept the terms of this license agreement check box and click Next.
The Enter License Key window appears.

- Enter your license key and click Next.
Note: The license key was emailed to you after your purchase. If you purchased a CD, the license key is on the back of your CD sleeve. You must enter the key exactly as it appears in the email. If you have difficulty with the license key, or if you cannot find your license key.
The Installation Path dialog appears.

- Select the folder in which you want to install CA Anti-Spam, then click Install.
Note: The default installation folder is C:Program FilesCACA Internet Security Suite. To install the product to a different folder, enter the folder name in the Installation Path field, or click Browse to select the appropriate folder.
The installation begins copying files. It might take several minutes, depending on the speed of your computer and connection. During the process, the installation status is displayed. If you are connected to the Internet, the installation also downloads the latest product updates. After the installation process is complete, the Product Registration dialog appears.
Note: If you have already registered your CA product using the previously-entered license key, the Product Registration dialog does not appear. Skip the next step.
- If you are connected to the Internet, ensure that you register your product. If you are not currently connected to the Internet, to register when your computer is online, open the CA Security Center and click Help, Product Registration.
The Installing CA Anti-Spam window appears, advising you the installation is complete.

- Click OK to finish the installation.
Note: If you upgraded from a previous version of CA Anti-Spam, or another CA Security Suite product, you may be asked to restart your computer.
